Justice Javed Iqbal's parents' murder: Brother confesses to murder, says Police

LAHORE:Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Aslam Tareen on Tuesday revealed that Justice Javed Iqbals younger brother Naveed Iqbal had planned and executed the murder of his parents along with two of his accomplices.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, the CCPO revealed that Naveed had not been in touch with his family for a long time.

The CCPO also revealed that Naveed had planned the murder with two of his friends, Abbas and Amin, and had taken them to his parents and asked them to kill his parents.

Naveed and his accomplices fled from the scene after stealing Rs 163,000.

Naveed has retracted from his statement and states that he has been framed by Abbas.

Naveed Iqbal who is a retired government officer and Justice Javeds step brother, confessed to the police that he had a dispute with his parents over the division of property.

His statement was recorded in front of Justice Javed Iqbal.

Naveed has been taken into police custody and will be presented before judicial magistrate tomorrow (Wednesday).

The parents of Justice Javed Iqbal were killed on January 11 under mysterious circumstances in a well-guarded area of Lahore.

The murder came to light when a relative of Abdul Hameed, who came to see the couple, found them dead in the TV lounge of their house. They were strangled to death using pillows.
